"Finding Peace on Maroon Bells II"

Phil and Tamara Doss own several of my paintings, and recently commissioned a 48 x 48 of Maroon Bells. They wanted lots of bold, vibrant color with my signature thick texture. It was a fun piece to do. This is the email I just received from the happy collectors:
Hi Jen,
We got it and it is beautiful!! We will try to get a picture over to you tonight. Thank you so much for the wonderful effort. It really stands out in our house.

Thanks again,

Phil and Tamara

Email from Finland

What a sweet email from an artist in Finland. I love how the web makes it possible for a stranger on the other side of the world to view and connect with paintings created in a small town in Oregon:
I just wanted to tell you that I'm inspired by your paintings. I live in Finland and we have a lot of birches here. I like painting them too. I really like your autumn paintings.

Capturing Colorado!

Last week, my husband and I flew to Colorado to take picture of the changing leaves! What a trip. We landed in Denver, and drove about 4 hours to Aspen. We spent the next 5 days taking pictures of the gorgeous scenery. I couldn't get enough of the aspen trees! By the end of the trip we'd logged in 1500 miles in our rental car (good thing we had unlimited miles!) and took over 4,000 pictures! These photos will be the inspiration for my next series of aspen paintings...my only question is which one to paint first?! :)

Aspen Giclée hanging in Summer Home

What a fantastic room! A couple of posts back, I mentioned that a couple from Chicago had ordered my "Symphony of Color III" Giclée. They had recently bought a summer home in Lake Geneva Wisconsin, and needed something for above the great room mantel. Barbara was kind enough to send me pictures of the Giclée hanging above the fireplace. But what a fireplace! It spans 2 stories up! And the wall color is the perfect compliment to the colors in the Giclée. Great choice on artwork. This is what Barbara had to say about it:
"The sunroom looks out on a golf course which in the fall echoes your Symphony of Color. It is like we brought it inside! Just beautiful. Our pictures don't do justice to your work....."

Evening Promise II - New Aspen Painting by Jennifer Vranes

This particular image has been very popular this month. I've painted variations of this scene five times! Each client requests a different size, with minute changes to fit their individual preferences. In the commission below, the clients requested a brilliant blue sky and a light source that comes the front of the painting--illuminating the trees and meadow. In the first piece, I had a yellow sky that back lit the forest. The clients approved the commission, and we shipped it off today!

"Myriad of Colour" commission

This piece was commissioned by a client who liked the first "Myriad of Colours" (48 x 48), but needed it in a different size. This happens quite frequently. A client will walk into a Gallery, like a certain piece, but end up commissioning me to do the same piece again but with a few changes to make it work. This client wanted the painting to be a horizontal...but retain the same "flavor" as the first. Here is the result:
